Ponferrada is a city of 69,000 people, although I find it hard to believe. We had passed through several totally cute villages today... then arrived here - eh. Not so cute!
Manjarin was the first to surprise me. Not convinced it contained more than 2 houses, but dang, it was eccentric, in a good way.
Fall is in the air. While there are a few blackberries for the taking, most are a bit moldy... starting to launch themselves off the brambles and onto the ground. Why the birds aren't eating them, I'll never know. I turn myself into a contortionist just to grab a couple!
Arriving at Ponferrada, we checked into the albergue that sleeps 174! It's new, nice, well staffed and lends itself nicely to home cooking. 😀
Lentil stew!

Riego de Ambròs - adorable!
Molinaseca- it was quaint and enchanting on the outset... with hard to reach fig trees, but ultimately not my favorite village today.
Lentil stew!
