Feeling a bit more organized, Pierre and I compared schedules and made a rough plan for the next 3 days, to get us to Burgos.
25 km or there about seems completely ok for us. We leave early and stop often. Arriving often before 2pm. With this in mind, the plan became one in which the walk into Burgos is only 15 km. That's allowing most of Thursday and maybe some of Friday to explore.
Without getting ahead of myself, I already know that shopping is on the schedule! I'm down a head lamp and sun hat. How I lost them, I don't know... but it's irrelevant anyway. I've let them go and if I didn't need them both, I'd not bother to replace them. Burgos is going to be the first chance I have to find an outdoor store.
Getting back to today; an easy ish 25km, through Cirueña, Grañon and arriving here at 1:30.
Our host is a somewhat eccentric guy, with a very short attention span, a loveable black lab, a generous hand and a warm, infectious smile. I like him a lot. He was born for his role as a Pilgrim host and has indeed hiked the Camino de Santiago no less than 3 times. His place is clean, has great showers, reasonable wifi and he cooks dinner... a SUPERB dinner. Oh yeah, and memory foam mattresses!
Across the street was a sign that beckoned pilgrim's for a foot massage/reflexology. I did it! Begoña was amazing! She barely spoke English and of course my Spanish is still bad, but between us we discussed my sore feet and tender spot that once was a blister. With delicate hands she soothed away the pain, eased my stiff myscles and had my eyes rolling back in their sockets.
Her fee? A donation. As you leave the building there is a donation box in the courtyard. I gave her everything I had on me and wished I carried more.
This could not have been a more pleasant stay.
