Our sweet Teddy is now just over 8 months old. We have had him since he was 8 weeks, so it's time for an update.
Teddy is about 60lb. 60lb but with little awareness of his actual size. He is a bull in a china shop, the guy that steps on your toes, walks on you instead of over you and feels the undying need to fit his fairly large self into spaces that would be cozy for him at 3 months old. Yeah, personal space and self awareness is lacking but he more than makes up for this with his gentle and awesomely sweet personality.
Like me... he falls asleep at Movie Night
If his collar is off, he'll bug you to put it back on!
ALWAYS gentle with his stuffies
Companionship driven
An early riser who needs me to be, also!
Interested in nature...
... even nature on TV
Teddy's best friend is Wrigley the cat. Rusty the cat has been slow to trust Teddy but not because of any misstep on Teddy's part. And in the back yard we have the "ladies" - our free-ranging hens who were quick to befriend Teddy and he has never once violated that friendship.
Best friends
Partners in crime!
Siblings
Always a gentleman though
Uncommon patience when it comes to food
At 4 months old, we started open space and off leash training and earned his off leash tag by 5 months. His recall is good (most days) and he has LOVED the additional freedom. At this time he can almost always be relied on to 'stop, sit and wait' when other dogs, hikers and bikers pass us on the trail. It allows for a less enthusiastic greeting which can mean a lot to some people and/or their dogs - especially when Teddy is soaking wet, kinda grey looking and smells like the swamp he just dashed out of.
At 6 months old, Teddy was introduced to water. The ponds had thawed but were still unbelievably cold and he didn't mind that at all. He's a strong swimmer, enjoys being wet and has had none of the issues that some other goldens suffer with when they get wet or stay wet - hot spots, skin allergies, ear infections.
In between hiking outings Teddy has found joy in visiting with friends, drive through banking, his first outing to a restaurant and several trips to The Home Depot.
He is a handsome boy who is growing very used to his momma making him sit, stay and focus for photos!! Teddy is both extremely photogenic and a people pleaser, the perfect companion on the trail and at home. Offering unconditional friendship and unlimited smiles!
