My blister is exhausted. It tells me that it remembers every step of the 50km that I have tortured it with, over the last 2 days.
I thought I did ok by covering the hot spot in Compeed two days ago, but apparently all I did was trap it under a thick layer of silicon type padding. Making it twice as sticky-outy, causing it to touch the boot more, add more pressure, create a bigger blister! And... lesson learned; Compeed sticks like glue and there is no option of removing it until it's good and ready, unless you feel like removing the blister with it. Trust me when I say you cannot pop a blister through Compeed either. It seals the pin hole immediately... no draining, no pressure relief.
I only walked 22km today. Viana to Logrono was an easy hike, despite me getting lost in Viana in the dark. I was alone. Luca's feet were to bad to walk on and she had conceded that today was going to be about taking the bus and buying new shoes.
In Logrono, I took a leisurely brunch and wandered the city in search of an ATM. By 11:30 I was back on the trail, but the next 12km took almost 4 hours.
Partly due to hobbling... partly because Pierre caught up with me and we stopped to dangle our feet in an irrigation canal, while feasting on wild pears and nearby grapes.
In Navarrete we eyeballed the Pilgrim menu offered at the albergue and went in search of something to tide us over til dinner. Pinchos! (IE tapas)
Between us we polished off 9 pinchos and 3 glasses of wine. Then it was time to have dinner with the Camino family. 😀
After dinner, just time for a short walk to the market for some snacks. Tomorrow is not a long day, but one without a lot of snack and water support.
